We are truly delighted to welcome Gertrude, and her range of incredible new treatments, to our Serenity Spa team!
Gertrude has studied internationally for over 7 years: including in Italy, Germany, South Africa and Thailand. She is a fully qualified Osteopath and Physiotherapist, trained in the anatomy of the human body.
So, without further ado, let us introduce the new treatments which will now complement our existing Serenty Spa range:
Kshs 6000 • 60 mins | Kshs 8000 • 90 mins | Kshs 10000 • 120 mins | A therapy for the treatment of musculoskeletal problems through the manipulation of fasciae – bands or sheets of connective tissue beneath the skin that attach, stabilise, enclose and separate muscles and other internal organs. This process of manipulation, developed by an Italian physiotherapist named Luigi Stecco, has evolved over the last 40 years through extensive scientific study and practice. It goes much deeper than even a deep tissue or sports massage: realigning the body, relieving tense muscles and improving body posture. Go on – get rid of those tension headaches, ‘text necks’ and numerous other painful by-products of our over-stretched lifestyle.
Acupuncture and Dry Needling
Kshs 5000 • 45 mins | Useful therapies to provide pain relief and assist injury rehabilitation. Originating in China over 5,000 years ago, Acupuncture has become a common treatment in the Western world. By inserting very fine needles at specific points along the twelve major energy pathways (meridians) in your body, each linked to specific internal organs and organ systems, your acupuncturist can redirect and reposition the flow of energy (chi) for the purpose of relieving tension, stress, and pain.
Dry Needling [or Myofascial Trigger Point Needling]
There are some horrible side effects of using computers all day – chronic neck pain is just one of them! Deep tissue therapy releases chronic muscle tension by focusing on the deepest layers of muscle tissue. The massage movement is slower and the pressure deeper than with a relaxation massage. The result? Reduced toxins, reduced stress, increased circulation and reduced pain.
A therapy which can be used in conjunction with Fascial Manipulation©, Acupuncture and Dry Needling, or as a treatment on its own. One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians used cupping therapy in 1,550 B.C. Gertrude will place cups on your body to create suction and increase blood flow to that region: as such it is terribly effective for stretching tight fascia and muscles, helps to improve blood flow within the tissue whilst stimulating anti-inflammatory chemicals in the body, encourages healing, reduces pain and induces relaxation and well-being.
Acupuncture,Dry Needling & Cupping All included under one Package.
Kshs 2500 • 20-30 mins | This is a discipline that emphasises the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. The practice focuses on the relationship between the spine and the nervous system and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. It has been shown to help treat dozens of different conditions: especially lower back pain, neck pain and headaches. Gertrude uses her hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled, sudden force to spinal joints; the goal of this spinal manipulation being to correct structural alignment and improve your body’s physical function
